Mouth-Watering Watermelon: Here’s another very natural flavor that unmistakably tastes like watermelon. What you’ll probably find is that it’s more of a cherry pie flavor and sweetness. Once you have some painting materials you need to decide what to paint. Loose Impressionist Watercolor Landscape Painting I have a complete course on loose watercolor landscape painting on Udemy. Some people use ceramic plates and other things. The reason for using a board is flexibility, you tape the paper to the board, you can then tilt the bord or lay it flat, you can also control how the paint moves down the paper. Other things you might want to include: a wooden board - you can use masking tape to fix the paper to the board while painting. The bristles are also more flexible than synthetic brush fibres. Some watercolor painters use natural hair brushes such as sable or squirrel hair because these brushes can hold more water than synthetic brushes. ![]() Some examples of my watercolor landscapes: Many watercolor brushes are made from natural hair, if you prefer you can also get high quality synthetic brushes. When choosing a brush - always choose a brush that is made for watercolor not oil painting or acrylic or anything else. Some people have a large collection with many different types of brushes but I like to keep things simple. ![]() Watercolor paper is available with different surface textures - rough (= cold pressed), smooth (= hot pressed) and NOT (slightly textured surface), for looser styles rough surfaces are good. Try to use paper that is at least 300 grams per square metre (140 pounds), thinner paper is cheaper but it will buckle as you add water and wet paint ![]() The best watercolor paper is 100% cotton - it warps less than wood pulp paper when you add water or wet paint Things to consider include, what is the paper made of, what weight/thickness is the paper and is the surface rough or smooth. There are many types and brands of water color paper. I don’t use a palette to mix colors since I prefer to use pure unmixed paint. My reason for using tubes is I sometimes dab small amounts of undiluted paint onto the paper, this technique is not possible with pans. Pans are small dried blocks of paint, you have to use a wet brush to re-activate the paint. Watercolor paint is available in two main forms - tubes and pans. Limiting the colors you use can produce a more harmonious composition, using too many colors might result in a discordant painting Try to get used to thinking about value and not just color (hue), value means the lightness or darkness of the paint, limiting the number of colors available to you forces you to think about and experiment with values So why use a limited palette? I advise using just a few colors for two reasons: The ultimate limited palette uses just one color. As you get started in watercolor my advice is to also keep your palette limited to no more than five or six colors. I use Sennelier watercolour paint and I tend to use a limited palette, which is just a fancy way of saying that I only use a few colors: Cobalt Blue, French Ultramarine blue, Prussian Blue, Cadmium Yellow and Light Phthalo Green. Paint: mostly Sennelier, I use tubes rather than pans Many top quality brands exist and all of them can deliver great results, but I know some people are interested in what I use, so here is a list: ![]() To paint loose watercolor landscapes you need some materials: paper, paint, a brush, a palette, a glass jar or something to hold water, a wooden board and some tape to hold the paper in place while you are painting. ![]()
Pottermore Publishing continues to be the global digital publisher of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World.Īlso in 2012, J.K. Rowling’s digital company Pottermore was launched, which became Wizarding World Digital in 2019. In December 2008, a third companion volume, The Tales of Beedle the Bard was published in aid of her international children’s charity, Lumos. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages were published in March 2001 in aid of Comic Relief. Rowling has also written two small companion volumes, which appear as the titles of Harry’s school books within the novels. In 2001, the film adaptation of the first book was released by Warner Bros., and was followed by six more book adaptations, concluding with the release of the eighth film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, in 2011. Six further titles followed in the Harry Potter series, each achieving record-breaking success. The book was published in the US by Scholastic under a different title (again at the publisher’s request), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, in 1998. It was added at her publisher’s request, who thought a book by an obviously female author might not appeal to the target audience of young boys. She says it was “the best letter I had ever received in my life.” ![]() Having completed the full manuscript, she sent the first three chapters to a number of literary agents, one of whom wrote back asking to see the rest of it. In Edinburgh, Jo trained as a teacher and began teaching in the city’s schools, but she continued to write in every spare moment. When the marriage ended later that year, she returned to the UK to live in Edinburgh, with Jessica and a suitcase containing the first three chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Taking her notes with her, she moved to northern Portugal to teach English as a foreign language, married Jorge Arantes in 1992 and had a daughter, Jessica, in 1993. She wrote mostly in longhand and gradually built up a mass of notes, many of which were scribbled on odd scraps of paper. Over the next five years, she began to map out all seven books of the series. Jo conceived the idea of Harry Potter in 1990 while sitting on a delayed train from Manchester to London King’s Cross. “My small participation in that process was one of the most humbling and inspiring experiences of my life.” “There in my little office I read hastily scribbled letters smuggled out of totalitarian regimes by men and women who were risking imprisonment to inform the outside world of what was happening to them.” She said later. “It’s one of my favourite places on earth.”Īfter her degree, she moved to London and worked in a series of jobs, including one as a researcher at Amnesty International. “I lived in Paris for a year as a student,” Jo tweeted after the 2015 terrorist attacks there. Her knowledge of Classics would one day come in handy for creating the spells in the Harry Potter series, some of which are based on Latin. Jo studied at Exeter University, where she read so widely outside her French and Classics syllabus that she clocked up a fine of £50 for overdue books at the University library. At just eleven, she wrote her first novel – about seven cursed diamonds and the people who owned them. She wrote her first book at the age of six – a story about a rabbit, called ‘Rabbit’. It’s an exciting read, and I loved seeing Chelli Aphra and Luke Skywalker working together for a change, even if their interactions did start with the usual amount of conflict this time around as well. I’m guessing these long-dead Jedi are not really there on Sason but are instead visions or holograms or robots or something, but either way this reveal gives us the cliffhanger ending of the issue. Working together, they manage to eliminate their enemies just as Luke regains his Force powers, and then the pair of explorers tumble through a trap door into an underground chamber where they seemingly encounter Aayla Secura and Shaak Ti themselves. Chelli deduces that these monsters must have been activated by a nearby mechanism, while Luke struggles to get his damaged yellow lightsaber working (I think this issue takes place before the events of Charles Soule’s Star Wars #34). Soon Luke and Aphra find themselves being attacked by semi-mechanical guardians of the temple, formed of crystal shards fused by the magnetic energy of the planet. Along the way, Chelli reveals that she has learned that the Sason Temple will only open its doors to those “pure of heart and strong with the Force,” but when they finally arrive at the correct spot, Luke finds that his connection to the Force has subsided once again thanks to the ebb and flow caused by the opening of the Fermata Cage in the Star Wars: Hidden Empire miniseries. The pair (with the loyal astromech droid R2-D2 in tow) arrive at the planet Sason to find it covered in magnetic storms that interfere with the ship’s systems, so Luke must rely on the Force to locate the temple, which they find to be suspended within a cyclone of energy. When Aphra suggests to Luke that the artifact may give him an edge in his ongoing battle with his Sith Lord father Darth Vader, the would-be Jedi can’t help but go along for the ride. After Luke comes to aboard Aphra’s ship, Chelli shows him a holorecording from the prequel era of Jedi Master Shaak Ti communicating with Aayla Secura about a powerful artifact they’re putting into safe keeping in a location known as the Sason Temple. And at the beginning of #32, we find out pretty quickly what those reasons are. Chelli Lona Aphra, taking Jedi-Knight-in-training Luke Skywalker hostage– for unknown reasons– by gassing him into unconsciousness. The previous issue of Doctor Aphra (#31) ended with the title character, rogue archaeologist Dr. 2, which came out at the end of May from Marvel Comics. I’ll start with issue #32 of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Vol. We would love to see what you come up with.Apologies for being so far behind on my Star Wars comic book reviews (it’s been a crazy busy time for me lately), but I’m going to be making an effort to catch up over the next week or so.
